THE Gardnerella mobiluncus is a type of bacteria that, like the Gardnerella vaginalis sp., normally inhabits the female genital region of almost all women. However, when these bacteria multiply in a disorderly manner, most of the time as a consequence of the decrease in the immune system, they can generate an infection known as bacterial vaginosis, which is a genital infection characterized by yellowish and strong-smelling vaginal discharge.
Usually the bacteria Gardnerella mobiluncusit is visualized in the pap smear, also known as a colpocytology exam, which collects samples of secretions and tissue from the vaginal region and cervix, which can demonstrate lesions or the presence of bacteria suggestive of this infection.
Although not considered a sexually transmitted infection, this bacterium can be transmitted sexually when it is found in large quantities, however it does not usually cause signs or symptoms in the partner, at most symptoms of urinary tract infection that are quickly resolved.
