Skin lightening should be done according to the dermatologist's guidance and can be done with the use of home remedies such as rosehip oil, for example, or through aesthetic treatments such as peeling or pulsed light.
However, whichever method is chosen to lighten the skin, it is important to adopt some precautions such as avoiding being exposed to the sun for a long time and applying sunscreen every day.
Skin lightening treatments
There are several treatments to lighten the skin, with the dermatofunctional physiotherapist and the dermatologist the most suitable professional to recommend the best treatment. The main treatments to lighten the skin are:
1. Chemical peel
Chemical peeling is a type of aesthetic treatment that consists of using acids to burn the outer part of the skin that is damaged, making the skin cleaner, regenerated, clearer and without spots. Normally, 10 sessions are necessary to obtain the expected result, but more or less sessions may be necessary depending on the objective and the body area to be treated.
The most frequently used acid is glycolic acid, which is a type of acid derived from sugar cane that has exfoliating, moisturizing, whitening, anti acne and rejuvenating properties. The concentration of glycolic acid in the peeling varies according to the need and type of skin of each person, and may have a milder or more intense effect.

Normally 3 sessions of crystal peeling are recommended once a week, however the number of sessions can vary according to the sensitivity of the person's skin and the area to be treated.

This type of treatment consists of the application of light beams that act on the dark pigments present in the skin and are absorbed, giving the skin a lighter appearance in the treated region.
Usually the sessions last about 30 minutes and happen with an interval of 4 weeks, however it can vary according to the region to be lightened and the person's skin sensitivity.
