A simpler way to calculate the likely date of delivery is to add 7 days to the first day of your last period, and 9 months to the month that occurred. For example, if the date of your last menstrual period was August 12th, you should add 7 days to the 12th, and 9 months to the 8th month.
That is: to know the day, 12 + 7 = 19, and to know the month, 8 + 9 = 17, as the year has only 12 months, the remaining value must be added to the following year, so the result will be 5 Thus, the likely date of delivery would be May 19.
However, this date is only a guide for the pregnant woman, and may not show exactly when the baby will be born, as the date used to make the calculation counts the period of 40 weeks of pregnancy, however the baby is ready to be born since week 37, and can be born until week 42.
The following calculator shows the likely date of delivery in a simpler way, and to do so, just enter the day and month of the beginning of the last menstrual cycle:
How to know the date by ultrasound
If you do not know the date of your last menstrual period or want to confirm more precisely about the date of delivery, the obstetrician can use ultrasound, which allows you to observe growth parameters, and compare these data with a table that indicates the characteristics and sizes baby must present each week of gestation. In addition, as a complement, the doctor can measure the height of the uterus and observe the baby's movements and heartbeat, to confirm the possible date of delivery.
However, if the woman chooses to have a normal birth, the date, even when confirmed by ultrasound, may vary slightly, because the baby decides the moment of birth together with the woman's body.
And so, the date serves only as a parameter for the preparation for the woman and family, because even the date indicated on the ultrasound may not be the exact one, since the baby can be born until week 42 without any risk of life. See how to prepare the mother and baby's suitcase for motherhood.
How to know the date by conception
If you are sure of the day of the design, just add 280 days and divide by 7, which represents the days of the week. The result will be how many weeks the baby is likely to be born, then just check the day and month after the weeks obtained in the result.
For example: August 12th + 280 days / 7 = 41 weeks. Then locate August 12 on the calendar and consider that day as the first week and count 41 weeks, meaning that the baby is likely to be born on May 19.
