The moment of the baby's arrival is very important and longed for by all moms, so to avoid unnecessary stress and nervousness it is important to have everything prepared in order to avoid unforeseen circumstances. It is advisable to have the mother's and baby's bags ready after 36 weeks of gestation, since labor can always start at any time after that time.
What to take to the hospital
It is important that some items from the layette of the mother and baby are taken to the hospital so that they can be used in the postpartum period. Therefore, it is recommended that you be taken to the hospital:
- 2 breastfeeding-appropriate sweaters, opening at chest level;
- 1 bathrobe or robe;
- 1 postpartum brace indicated by the doctor;

- Moisturizing and protective cream for the nipples;
- Breastfeeding pads or pads to keep nipples dry;
- 3 or 4 high-sewing panties, comfortable for postpartum;
- Socks if necessary;
- Bath and bedroom slippers;
- 1 pack of night absorbent to contain the large amount of blood lost in the postpartum period;
- Some personal care products, such as towels, soaps, mirror, lipstick, toothbrush and toothpaste, hairbrush, cotton buds, shampoo or conditioner, for example;
- Comfortable clothing, simple to wear and loose for leaving the hospital.
In addition, some items of the baby's layette must also be taken to the hospital, such as:
- Set of clothes for the baby, such as overalls, gloves, caps or socks;
- Blanket to wrap the baby;
- 1 soft towel with a hood, preferably;
- 2 packs of disposable diapers;
- 1 pack of wet wipes;
- Fabric diapers to put on the shoulder when picking up the baby;
- 1 fine comb or brush suitable for babies;
- 1 neutral shampoo for babies;
- 1 liquid soap suitable for the newborn;
- 1 baby moisturizer, preferably hypoallergenic;
- Cream for diaper rash;
- Complete clothes to leave the maternity ward;
- Baby comfort for baby exit and transportation in the car.
To avoid forgetfulness, it is recommended to make a list and place the items in a medium-sized suitcase that is easy to transport. It is also important that the two bags are kept together and in an easily accessible place, preferably.
What the baby layette cannot miss
1. Furniture
Furniture is one of the important things in the baby's layette, as it is important not only to promote the comfort of the baby but also of the mother during breastfeeding. 2. Hygiene Products

3. Clothes
Baby clothes should be comfortable and easy to change in diaper changes, being recommended: pagan shirts, jumpsuits with and without sleeves, t-shirts, underwear, sets with coat, cap, socks and slippers, bib, blankets, blanket, sheets and pillowcases, cot protector, pillow.
4. Food
For the baby's feeding, there are some items that are needed such as: bottle, pacifier, plate, cutlery, cup with handle. In the first months of life these items are not used, this is because the baby's only source of food is breastfeeding.
