Flucytosine Indications
Flucytosine is indicated for the treatment of systemic candidiasis, systemic mycosis, Cryptococcus neoformans pneumopathy, cutaneous leishmaniasis and chromomycosis.
How to use Flucytosine
The use of Flucytosine consists of ingesting 100 to 200 mg / kg per day, divided into 4 doses, every 6 hours, for 30 to 90 days.
When there is renal failure, doses should be reduced or the interval between them increased.
Side Effects of Flucytosine
Side effects of Flucytosine can be anemia, diarrhea, poor appetite, bloating, abdominal pain, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, mental confusion, hallucination, headache, sedation and hearing loss.
Contraindications for Flucytosine
Flucytosine is contraindicated in pregnant or lactating women, children and individuals hypersensitive to any component of the formula.
