Pyrazinamide is known commercially as Pyrazinon.
This medication is an oral bactericide, widely used in the treatment for tuberculosis, when the initial medications do not work.
Pyrazinamide must be combined with other medicines to be effective against tuberculosis, since the bacteria in the disease can offer resistance if the medicine is used in isolation.

Side Effects of Pyrazinamide
Anemia; increased uric acid in the blood; yellowish color on the skin or eyes; pain when urinating; joint pain; skin allergies; lack of appetite; fever; malaise; nausea; liver problems; bleeding; sensitivity to light; vomiting.
Contraindications for Pyrazinamide
Pregnancy risk C; lactating women.
How to use Pyrazinamide
Adults and Teens
- Tuberculosis: Administer 15 to 30 mg of pyrazinamide per kg of body weight in a single dose, daily or administer 50 to 70 mg per kg of weight of the drug, 2 to 3 times a week.
Dose limit: 2 g per day, if the product is administered every day.
