Flaxseed oil and seeds
Flaxseed oil is rich in phytoestrogens and is a good natural way to find well-being during menopause. Many studies have been carried out on its effect on the climacteric, but an ideal amount that should be ingested daily has not yet been reached, although it is confirmed that it is beneficial and can help in the fight against hot flashes due to its ability to act on blood vessels
How to use flaxseed oil: It is best to use flaxseed oil in a small amount, just to cook and season the salad and vegetables, for example, because it is an oil it contains 9 calories per gram and as in menopause weight gain is common, especially the accumulation of fat in the belly, it is not recommended to eat a large amount.
Flax seeds are also a great option because they also have lignans, a phytoestrogen similar to those that are no longer produced by the ovaries and therefore it is very effective in combating hot flashes and other symptoms that appear during menopause.
How to use flax seeds: The recommended dose is 40g of ground flaxseed, about 4 tablespoons, per day as a form of natural hormone replacement. Some suggestions for the menu are:
- Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of flaxseed on the lunch plate and another on the dinner plate;
- Take 1 glass of beaten orange juice with 1 watercress sauce and then add the ground flaxseed and
- Add 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed in a jar of yogurt or a bowl of cereal with milk, for example.
Flaxseed should be consumed daily for a period of approximately 2 months in order to assess its effect on menopausal symptoms. But be careful, this amount of flaxseed should only be used for women who are not undergoing hormone replacement therapy with medications, as it can cause a large increase in hormones in the bloodstream and this can be harmful to health.
