A good homemade solution to stop diarrhea is to take advantage of the natural properties of apples and carrots, and guava for example.
Peeled apples trap the intestine, have lots of water and micronutrients like potassium and phosphorus that are also eliminated in situations of vomiting and diarrhea and need to be replaced. The apple can be eaten raw, cooked, in the form of juice, syrup or tea.
1. Apple juice for diarrhea
This apple juice with chamomile tea is great for fighting diarrhea because the apple helps to hold the intestine and chamomile, soothes and lessens abdominal pain.
Ingredients
- 1 chamomile tea bag
- 1 glass of water
- 1 peeled apple
Preparation mode
Boil the water and add the chamomile tea, letting it stand for 2 minutes. Then beat the tea with the apple in the blender and then drink it. You can sweeten it with 1 spoon of honey because honey provides the patient with some energy.
This juice should be drunk on an empty stomach and several times a day to stop bouts of diarrhea. If the individual evacuates more than 3 times a day, more than 3 days in a row with liquid stools with or without abdominal pain, it is advisable to consult a gastroenterologist.
Try eating up to two apples a day, peeled, at alternate times to help hold the bowel.
2. Carrot syrup for diarrhea
Carrot syrup with apple is a great home remedy against diarrhea. It is very easy to be prepared and effective in combating this disease.
Ingredients
- 1/2 grated carrot
- 1/2 grated apple
- 1 cup of honey
Preparation mode
In a light saucepan to boil in a water bath all ingredients for approximately 30 minutes over low heat. Then let it cool and place it in a clean glass bottle with a lid. Take 2 tablespoons of this syrup a day for as long as the diarrhea lasts.
This syrup can be kept in the refrigerator for 1 month.
3. Guava leaf tea for diarrhea
Both chamomile and guava leaves have antispasmodic properties that decrease bowel contractions helping to retain feces for a longer time and therefore can be used in case of diarrhea that has lasted for more than 3 days and under medical supervision.
Ingredients
- 1 handful of chamomile flower
- 10 guava leaves
- 250 ml of water
Preparation mode
Put the ingredients in a pan and boil for about 15 minutes over low heat. Turn off the heat, cover the pan and let it warm, then strain and drink in small sips several times during the day.
