Hair can break anywhere along its length, however, it is most visible when it breaks in front, near the root or at the ends. After a period of greater hair loss, it is normal for hair to start growing and look like it is broken at the front, but in fact it is new hair.
In this case it can be seen that all hair looks healthy and hydrated, but 'broken' close to the root. So, the solution to this type of problem is to adopt strategies that help the hair to grow faster or hide these new strands with some simple strategies, such as applying a serum after washing your hair or using a spray fixative, for example.
How to recover brittle hair
When hair is broken along the strands or at the ends, it is more likely that this break is related to dry and damaged strands. In this case, to recover broken hair you must:
- Use food supplements based on vitamin E to strengthen the hair;
- Weekly moisturize your hair with good quality products or using natural ingredients;
- Use products with Argan oil, keratin or urea, which help to hydrate the threads;
- Avoid straightening or coloring your hair, in addition to not using the flat iron more than once a week;
- Give preference to shampoos without salt and with keratin, since they leave the hair more beautiful and structured;
- Do treatments such as capillary cauterization, sealing or capillary botox to recover the hair.
Normally, broken hair is fully recovered in approximately 2 years, but with the proper treatment it is possible to hide these damaged strands in about 1 or 2 months. Cauterization and sealing treatments are excellent options because they deeply moisturize the hair, having an immediate and prolonged effect.
Why does the hair break?
Hair can break when it is very fragile and dry and that is why people with dyed, straightened or very curly hair have an easier time with their hair like that. In addition, holding the hair still wet can also favor the breakage of the strands and, therefore, before attaching it is important to let it dry naturally or with the help of a dryer.
However, hair breakage can also happen due to a disease called trichorexic nodes, where there is a change in the hair strand, with some nodes appearing along the hair strand, and it is in these nodes that the hair breaks. Other less common causes are intense sun exposure, nutritional deficiencies and endocrine diseases, which affect the thyroid, for example.
Tips to always have healthy hair
The hair falls and grows slowly and has a life cycle of approximately 5 years. To ensure that your hair is always healthy during this period you should:
- Use a shampoo suitable for your hair type;
- Remove all excess shampoo and conditioner when rinsing hair;
- Do not wash your hair in hot water, as in addition to dehydrating the hair, it stimulates the production of sebum by the scalp and can also cause flaking;
- Avoid using the dryer, but if necessary, keep it at least 10 centimeters away from the wires;
- Apply a mask once a week to keep hair healthy and nourished.
So, even if you are very careful to keep your hair healthy and hydrated, it remains broken for weeks or months, it is good to go to the doctor to assess the need for blood tests that can identify diseases that are causing these changes in hair.
