The hot stone massage is a massage made with hot basalt stones all over the body, including the face and head, which helps to relax and relieve the accumulated stress during daily tasks.
Initially a massage is done on the whole body with plenty of oil and then the therapist also performs a gentle massage with the heated stone, leaving it resting for a few minutes, in some specific points of the body, called key acupressure points.

How to do hot stone massage

- Place 5 or 6 smooth basalt stones in a pot of water;
- Boil the water with the stones and then let it rest until the temperature is 50ºC;
- Put a stone in your hand to check the temperature of the stone;
- Make a massage with sweet almond oil;
- Place the stones at the key acupressure points on the back for 10 minutes;
- Make a light massage with the stones on the place where they were placed.
Although hot stone massage can be done at home, it should, whenever possible, be done by a trained professional to ensure the best results.

Who should not receive
Hot stone massage is contraindicated for individuals with acute asthma, acute cystitis, acute infections, injuries, skin diseases, cancer and in pregnancy.
